“It never alerts me”
Almost always one of four things, in order of likelihood:
- The direction sector is inverted. Direction is where the wind comes from. A north-facing slope wants a sector around 360°, not 180°.
- The band is too narrow. 12–14 knots from a 30° sector is a rare hour. Widen one of them and see whether alerts appear.
- A gust or temperature limit is quietly vetoing every match. A gust ceiling below your minimum speed can never be satisfied — the app refuses to save that one, but a ceiling only slightly above it will match almost never.
- Notifications are off for WindMind in iOS Settings.
The app shows the last few hours it evaluated and why each one did or did not match. That screen answers this question faster than we can.
“It alerted me and the wind was wrong”
Check how far your pin sits from the centre of its forecast square — the app shows this, and flags it when it is more than 8 km. Near a coast or in a valley, that distance can matter a great deal. Moving the pin to a spot whose square better represents your site sometimes helps more than changing the rule.
“I am being alerted too often”
Raise the minimum gap between alerts on the rule, lower the daily ceiling in notification settings, or narrow the rule. If the same window keeps re-announcing itself, tell us — that is a bug in our suppression logic, not something you should have to work around.
Subscriptions and refunds
Cancel in your device’s Settings → your Apple account → Subscriptions. Refunds go through Apple; we cannot issue them. If a purchase went through but the app still shows Free, open the paywall and choose Restore purchases, and write to us if that does not fix it within a few minutes.
Deleting your account
In the app, under your profile. It takes effect immediately and removes your locations, rules and alert history.
Reporting something that matters
If WindMind ever tells you conditions are good when the forecast plainly said otherwise, we want to know that before anything else. Include the location name and roughly when, and we can look up exactly which model run made the claim.
